Lecture 1 : Introduction to Video and  Sound Production
26.08.19 (Week1)

We were briefed about the module and the importance of sound in a video. We were told to get a pair studio monitoring headphones, the difference between a normal pair of headphones and a studio monitoring headphones is that a normal pair of headphones already has it's own settings inside. For example, the treble and bass has been boosted, while a studio monitoring headphones it is neutral, therefore we can hear the real sound. We were also briefed about our upcoming projects throughout the semester. We were told that we will have to work in pairs for our final project which is a 1 minute stop motion video. Mr. Martin also showed some of our senior's final project work. The main software that we are going to use for this module are, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Audition.

Mr. Martin also told us to choose 3 of our favourite stop motion video. Hence, these are mine that i found interesting

1. Negative Space - Tiny Inventions (Ru Kuwahata & Max Porter)
The story in this video is very touching and it makes us be aware that we should spend more time with our loved ones. This video tells us a story about a man who's father is constantly on business trips and they only get to bond over packing up his father's suitcase. The sound effects of every single thing is precise, for exmaple the sound of the zip, the clothes unfolding and etc. The way that they showcase the story is also very interesting.

2. Isle of Dogs - Wes Anderson
The movement of the dog's fur amazes me and the fact that this is a stop motion movie. The colour schemes of the film is interesting too it is mainly only cool tones. The sound choices for this movie is also interesting and they also decided that the humans speaks japanese and the dogs speaks english.

3. Fantastic Mr. Fox - Wes Anderson
The following video is the opening scene of the movie and it is interesting to see how lively and smooth the actions are. And the colours for the opening are warm tones to set the mood of the sun setting and they are going home sneaking through their human neighbour's farm.

We showed our 3 choices of stop motion video to Mr. Martin and explained why we liked the videos to him. Mr. Martin also told me to research more about " Wes Anderson cinematography" since I am a fan of his works.

Stop Motion Idea :
A visual stimulation. Like a trip, a psychedelic trip.

Idea :
Is to make a visual stimulation and using ASMR as the audio

Flat surface with coloured paper and colourful clay.

Selling point :
Just a fun and random video
