23.09.19 (Week 5)
In today's class, my group was chosen to present about "Typographic Perceptions & Organization".
After that, we carried on with our weekly feedbacks with Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul for our exercises. Mr.Vinod then explained to us about our first project, which is Project 1 - The Troublemakers Manifesto : A Design Colloquium - Collateral.

Week 7
After last week's feedback I did a hand with florals that represents nature and the eye on the palm of the hand means protection.
Instead of the artwork above, Mr Vinod choose an unfinished work of mine.
Mr Vinod asked me to add another hand so it creates a flow. And add another part of the body to the hand.
The word "The Troublemakers Manifesto" doesn't sit well with the key artwork. Mr. Vinod suggested that I can draw my title out, and look at Alan Fletcher's artworks as reference.
It looks better now after the amendments, Mr Vinod told me to add another thing so that the other hand is holding something too.

Project 1 - The Troublemakers Manifesto : A Design Colloquium (Title and Key Artwork)
The Troublemakers Manifesto: A Design Colloquium, is the title of an academic conference for which we are required to develop a title cum key artwork and collateral. Like all conference promotional material, there is a need to develop a key-artwork or signature artwork that will be used across the different collateral.
The Troublemakers Manifesto: A Design Colloquium
The conference seeks to provoke inner dialogue of one's beliefs and to create a new paradigm shift through alternative viewpoints. Troublemakers often make others feel uncomfortable. They challenge the norm, they question establishments rules and the status quo. This tension is needed to break the monotony brought about by societal conformity to the diktats of those wielding influence. To most people, troublemakers are not a welcome lot but without their disruptive tendencies - creating ripples and ruffling feathers - unspoken ideas will not be made known, and innovations will not come to pass. Why do they do, what they do? What principles and values lie beneath their decisions and actions? Are you a troublemaker, if so what is your manifesto?
Idea vs Concept
Often, these terms are used by students and lecturers interchangeably and incorrectly. I would like to clarify its use in this post, in so that moving forward, all of you would be more cognisant when using it.
The following explanation is in the context of our (creative people) use:
An idea is singular in nature. You can have many ideas, but, for them to be considered as ideas, each one must be unique. Hence their singular nature.
A concept is plural. There can be many concepts: of the same type or different. They are generally derived from a singular thought. This thought is represented in the form of an idea.
Meaning: Concepts are derived from a single idea. So every idea you have should ideally lead to a slew of concepts (Idea first, and then concepts based on that idea follows). Each individual idea (tree) produces its own concepts (branches). The better the idea, the more the concepts. I often say say, “a good idea, has legs”.
So henceforth, when you use the terms idea/concept, be cognisant of their meaning before using it in your description or explanation.
After that, I began to add in my title to the visuals and I tweaked some of the elements.
Title and Key Artwork | Week 6 - Week X
We had to show our digitalised key artworks for feedback this week. The key artwork should be relevant and preferably a metaphor of the title itself. And it also has to relate to design, be it social design, environmental design and etc.
Below are my four attempts of visuals for the key artwork, I retraced and recoloured an existing image and made it more of an illustration style. I choose images that I feel like it may relate to the title.

Feedback
Week 6 (30.09.19)
General Feedbacks : The meaning of manifesto is a published declaration of the intentions, motives, or views of the issuer. We are not allowed to use lightbulb in our design as it is too common and boring. Mr. Vinod explained on how we can generate ideas, by mind mapping. He told us that we hould generate more ideas as most of our ideas are lazy ideas. Specific Feedbacks: Mr Vinod and Mr Shamsul said that the Hyena design and the brush feels forcefully put together , same goes to my Crow design. Most of my design are not related to designers except for my last one. Mr Vinod said that my last idea could work. Mr Vinod adviced me to work omn the graphics more and he told me that i can use the environment as my theme. Like how there's an environmental crisis going on now. Mr Shamsul also said that my key artwork is simple and nice, it's just that it doesn't really represent the title.
Week 7 (07.10.19)
Specific Feedbacks : The visual is good, just have to add more things to it. Mr Vinod asked me to add another hand so it creates a flow. And add another part of the body to the hand. Lecture slides need to be uploaded. No further reading.
Week 8 (14.10.19)
Specific Feedbacks:
The word "The Troublemakers Manifesto" doesn't sit well with the key artwork. Mr. Vinod suggested that I can draw my title out, and look at Alan Fletcher's artworks as reference. I had to sort it out within this hour, in order for me to proceed to my project 2.
It looks better now after the amendments , Mr Vinod told me to add another thing so that the other hand is holding something too.
Week 6
I had difficulties trying to find a metaphor for the title, and that it has to relate to design. After hearing feedbacks from Mr Shamsul and Mr Vinod, I finally had a direction that I can go for, although I am still currently doubting it.
Week 7
I finally found a direction that I can go for after hearing my feedbacks from Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul. The Composition of the artwork is important as it will help us in the upcoming collateral project.
I woke up late to class today , didn't heard my alarm this morning. But I manage to rush to class.
Week 8
Week 6
Everyone had a strong visual to support the title, for example, most of them used skulls, clowns, the anonymous mask, joker.
Week 7
The class proceeded as usual with classmates being stressed out because their artworks are not approved yet.
Findings
Week 6
I found out that discussing about the topic with my classmates is a good idea in generating more ideas and concept for the project.
Week 7
I was for late the first time, and I found out that I had set my alarm to 7PM instead of 7AM.

This study examines the impact of typography on advertisement evaluation in a tourism context and the impact of attitude toward the advertisement on attitude toward the destination. The authors also mentioned that typography has never been investigated academically as an execution element before despite suggestions from researchers that typography could influence the evaluation of advertisements. Hence, the purpose of this study is to investigate the persuasive power of typography in an advertising context for tourism destination.
