Briefing

14.04.2020 | Week 1
We started our class on Microsoft Teams with Miss Low. She briefed us about the module and told us what to expect in this module.

She then begins to explain the projects that we're going to do.

Project 1A
Part One: Prepare a presentation based on these three questions.
Defining the subject matters that we are learning.
• What is brand?
• What is brand identity?
• What is branding?

Part Two: Research and analyze a well-established brand as a case study.
Identify the type of logo used and explain the brand identity ideals.
Select a well established brand or a brand that you believe in their products / services.

Project 1B
Collect 20 logos weekly (100 logos in total).
Source from flyers, price tags, labels, packaging & etc., compile the images into Google slide.

Study how the graphic elements, typography (lettering), colour combination.
Observe and analyse how a logo was composed, include a descriptive write-up to each logo.

An open discussion on why you love (or hate) it—critical thinking.
To gain knowledge on how a logo is developed and how it contributes to the

brands’ identity as well as reflecting its brand value.

We were also required to fill in a questionnaire for our final project.



After that we watched videos online. Miss Low sent two youtube links for us to watch.
The first one is "Logorama". This is an interesting video as it includes almost every logo in the world. And the storyline is engaging too.

After that I proceed to watch the second video from the link. It is about what makes a truly great logo. Logos are divided into 3 parts, word mark logo, pictorial logo and abstract iconography logo.

Feedback

Week 2
Individual feedback: Overall the idea for option 3 is the most ideal and Miss Low suggested that I can focus more on coffee and make desserts as a side. I have to further develop the name for the brand.
          


Reflection

Experiences

Through this project I've learned a lot more about the brand "Apple" and the meaning behind their brand name

Observations

I observed that Apple has a very specific type pf style and colours. They use the same font all throughout their products and services.

Findings

I found that I have a much better understanding on what brand, brand identity and branding is after this project and also while listening to other people's presentation. I also have a new found appreciation and respect for brands as it is not easy to come up with a brand identity that can attract people
