This week I finalised most of my design applications and has decided to redo my brand guide, I redid my brand guide into a square book and every section will be in one book. I re did it because it looks more consistent and there will be a lesser chance that it will look messy. And also did my logo animation for the brand.

Feedbacks
Week 7For my application , it looks interesting and i can have more varriations. Ms Low suggested that I put letterhead, envelope and receipt as secondary.I should focus more on the merchandise and packaging, the more important stuff to represent my brand.
Week 8
For my business card, I should have 2 designs, a store card and a personal card. For the store card i can include the business hours and a simplified map if necessary. The personal card should be in a size that fits into a wallet so that it is easy to carry around. For most of my design, Ms Low suggested that i change the text and design elements colour to black. So that it creates strong contrast, because my brand has this loud and vibrant vibe. My design should be louder and have more contrast. I should plan my pagination for my brand book, so that i know which page has a smaller page and which has bigger pages. Ms Low also suggested that i study fruit labels for my label design. Create different characters based on my logo, different expressions and it'll be fun to see it in my applications.
Week 9
For my business cards, 6cm x 6xm is a bit too big and it won't fit into the ard holder/ wallet well. For the personal business cards, Ms Low suggested that i do it in a retangular shape instead of a circle. For the store business cards, Ms Low suggested that I make it into a round shape coaster. For the characters of the brand, I should use colours and shape that pushes the visual language of Sarawak. For my tote bag, maybe i can come up with iron on patches and the consumers can customize the totebag themselves.
Week 10
For my characters, I should add in a shape that represents sarawak, to match my brand. Because as of now, my brand looks very contemporary. I should try to use "bunga terung" shape fot my character. For the coffe bean packaging label, :Lat's weeks design looks better, this week's design looks quiet. For the sticker labels, i should try different typeface and variations, for example maybe text wrap the text to the sticker shape etc.
Week 11
For the characters, it is not sutable to just have the outline. Make it solid and fill it with colours and also add back the legs. For the stickers, I should add more elemnts to it so it does not look too plain and try different colour combos. While focusing on the design applications, I should also start with my brand guide and logo animation as soon as possible.
Week 12
The sticker looks okay although the outline is not suitable. Remove the outlines and add in more colours. Other than that, all good. For my brand guide it is good and I should finish it as soon as possible.
Week 13
Brand guide looks okay just needs a bit of corrections.
Week 14
Monogram is not needed for my brand as it is the same as my graphic expression. For the title page of section 1 do it the same as before. The vision and mission of the brand book can be in 2 separate pages. For 1.3 brand value, include ths characer silhouette in a subtle colour. For the tagline apply a heavier background colour. The mock up images should be presented in pdf form. FOr the logo animation , add colours in when the face expressions changes.
Reflection
Experiences
Through this project I get to come up with the brand guide and collaterals for the brand. I was struggling a lot at first, to keep everything consistent and with the look & feel I wanted. There were a lot of trial and error but I'm glad that in the ed it turned out quite well.
Observations
I can see that all my classmates have a different approach in designing their brand guides and collaterals. It was eye opening and I did learnt something from them.
Findings
I found out that the brand guide is actually quite detailed and there were a lot of write up to do. I've also learnt the importance of a brand guide through this project.

All design work involves problem solving on both visual and organizational levels. Pictures and symbols, fields of text, headlines, tabular data, all these pieces must come together to communicate as a totality. A grid is one approach to doing so. Before anything else, a grid introduces systematic order to a layout. Not only does it distinguish different types of information, easing a user’s navigation through them but, just as importantly, it alsoensures vital cohesion among visual elements, harmonizing them through the systems of spatial proportions and positioning logic it defines.
