Reflections

Experiences

Starting this semester, I was very anxious about online classes and how it is going to work out. Well eventually, it all worked out. And the semester has finally cam to an end. It sure was a roller coaster ride for me. The amount of panic attacks I had this semester is so unhealthy and this semester has definitely taken a huge toll on my mental health. Mid semester was the worst for me but I'm so glad that I survived. Through this module, I was able to create something so close to my heart. It helped me grief properly about my mom's passing. I've finally accepted it and I felt more relieved now. My skills in using InDesign has definitely gone up and it is all thanks to Mr Vinod. The constant reminders and warnings were very helpful although scary. My friends and I would go on Microsoft Teams every night before Wednesday to discuss and give suggestions on how to fix our work so that we get less scoldings the next morning from Mr Vinod. We all felt really bad for ruining his mood first thing in the morning, so every time when it is dead silence in the zoom call we would WhatsApp in the group "someone please say something". At the end of the day I really liked Mr Vinod's way of teaching and the constant grind from him, it has definitely shaped us into a better designer. And not to forget "Don't waste your time chasing grades, chase the learning process"- Mr Vinod. Although sometimes he would say "POtong Satu MArkah !" when our blogs are atrocious.

Observations

Through this semester I've learned very useful skills and mindset that would help me in the future and how I look at things. It is also interesting to see my classmate's work and learn from them. Everyone's was unique in their own way and most of the contents were very close to their heart. Some even made me tear up a little while reading.

Findings

This module has helped me learned a lot about Indesign and also the thoughts and process in creating a book for publishing. The amount of effort needed in order to come up with a good publishing book is a lot more than expected. Although your content may be interesting, if the flow and layout of the book is whack, everything goes down the drain, in my opinion. The module also has made me realise that I really need to brush up my after effects skills through the semester break.
